Flash from the past...

When my camera disc became full, I downloaded it onto my laptop, and much to my surprise... a bunch of photos from the trip the boys and I took to Indiana, and our return through South Dakota and Yellowstone in 2008.  it was a really nice trip.  My family got to meet my boys and vice versa and we did a lot of sightseeing!  Good memories!

Me and my Uncle Gordon on Mamaw's porch swing!

Family at Springmill Park

Mike, Debbie, and Alex, along with us.  The Long Family bunch :)

The classic Springmill Park photo!
My family has been taking this pic since my dad was little...
I want to do a picture frame of through the years photos.

My brave son

At the Virgil Grissom museum at the park.  The technology of that capsule
is prehistoric compared to our very own cell phones now!

Visiting my dad's marker at Green Hill Cemetery in Bedford.

Ben sharing his Fire Poi talents.
Aunt Fern said you would have to pay good money to
see a show like he put on.  lol

So glad my aunt and uncle have kept Mamaw's porch swing...
it holds special memories for me.
I can still remember the smell of her basement when we went
down together to get it out for the summer, one year when I
visited her.

The Water Tower.
Climbing The Water Tower has been a family tradition of sorts...
my dad and his brothers did it when they were young kids...
My mother proved herself to be part of the family when she climbed it
with my dad and uncle in the early 50's.  It was on an evening that involved
some drinking and riding around town on bicycles :)
I climbed it with Uncle Gordon when he was 54 and I was early 20's,
just to claim myself "a true Long".  We had to hop the fence while watching
for the cops, but we sat on the top for a long while and my uncle
told me stories about my dad and their growing up.
The boys did not get a chance to climb it... but one never knows what the future holds :)

We had baked burgers at Hobbies!  Had been thinking on them for several years!

Traveling back toward home

How the boys spent a lot of time while I was driving.

The Corn Palace

Check Wikipedia, but all the murals on this building are made from corn cobs.

First time eating Dippin Dots ice cream.
In front of pictures of past historic years of the Corn Palace.

An offering to the Great One
(Just had to stop at this tourist trap "to feed the prairie dogs.")

The Badlands
Unbeknownst to me, B. said he had always wanted to visit here.

Of course, we had to stop at Wall Drug!!

Mt. Rushmore

Cody, Wyoming

We stopped at a dam, and this huge float was on display.

I remember now that the camera got dropped shortly after this pic and it was done in.  I was able to send it back, one week before the warranty was up and it was replaced.  I believe the rest of our travels were recorded on other cameras and other phones.  And then outside of Yellowstone, we discovered that my oldest son had lost his wallet containing our gas credit card!!  A whole other story for another day...

Just can't believe that was 5 years ago!!  Wow, time really has really flown!
