Today, I went to the Crossroads Community Cafe and had a nice hot, tasty bowl of clam chowder, oyster crackers, and two cups of coffee for $1.50. The lady at the Visitor's Center had told me about it. She said they get grants, and it's family seating. So I was expecting a "soup kitchen" experience with long tables and folding chairs. I was very pleasantly surprised that no one in the place looked like they were living on the street, families were dining, along with nicely dressed people of all ages, the restaurant was contemporarily decorated with a rich, reddish brown on the walls, dark wooden floor, black lacquered tables with matching chairs that each seated four, and framed historical pictures of the town. It was immaculately clean, and when I went, it wasn't crowded so I had my own table. So if you are ever in North Bend, the address is 1972 Sherman Ave. On Wednesdays they serve meatloaf with mashed potatoes and gravy, and on Thursday they serve burritos, other than that they offer two entrees, Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays, and they post them in the window. Always just $1.50.
Then I went back across town, past Walmart, and checked out the Cranberry Sweets Candy Factory. It's known for it's free samples! And oh! way Yum!! The girls were nice, the samples were wonderful... I couldn't escape without purchasing something, so I picked up a gift or two. They are on FaceBook too... check them out :)
Look! A way "Skinny Me!"
To the Post Office, to the library, and I HAVE to get my laundry done tonight! Like I have said before, I could not live in these gray clouds for too long, it just whips out any energy I have and I just want to stay in bed, snuggled up and warm. It hasn't actually rained today so hopefully it will be an even nicer day tomorrow and I'll hit the beach!
Got to the laundromat and got my laundry accomplished. Yay me! Really nice couple was there also and we talked most of the time. And guess what!? He graduated from MY high school in 1969! We both threw out some names that we thought the other might know, but being 6 years apart, we didn't hit on any. However I did find out that he was a manager at Bob's Big Boy in Van Nuys, right at the time me and my friends were there every Friday night after our football and basketball games! I apologized for Gary Hilton's hi-jinx and how he'd leave the waitress a tip!! He was a nice guy and told me we weren't the only ones.
